Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-colored “shells” that Dr. MacNaughton custom prepares for your teeth. The veneers are painless to apply and can usually be applied without any grinding or shaving. In fact, veneers can even be placed over existing crowns and bridgework.

Veneers are usually bonded to the front teeth and can immediately enhance your appearance. Veneers can close a gap between teeth, cover unsightly stains, repair broken or chipped teeth, and may even help you avoid some orthodontic treatments.

Dr. MacNaughton and our team have had extensive training in veneers and their application. To see if you are a candidate for veneers, please call our office for a complimentary consultation.

Bonding is a traditional way to repair slightly chipped, discolored or crooked teeth. During dental bonding, filling is placed onto your tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with your tooth, and because it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades it closely matches the appearance of your natural teeth.

Tooth bonding can also be used for teeth fillings instead of amalgam fillings. Many patients prefer bonded fillings because the white color is much less noticeable than the silver amalgam fillings. Bonding fillings can be used on front and back teeth depending on the location and extent of tooth decay.

Bonding is less expensive than other cosmetic treatments and usually can be completed in one visit to our office. However, bonding can stain and is easier to break than other cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers.

Contouring and Reshaping

Reshaping and contouring, is most commonly used to change the length, shape and the position of the teeth. It is possible to correct crooked teeth, overlapped, chipped or irregularly shaped teeth or even overlapping teeth in just one session. Contouring of the teeth can also help with reshaping of the bite. The procedure and may also include porcelain veneers.

Crowns or “caps,” are made to go over a tooth that has been damaged or is misshapen. Crowns are strong and last longer than any other cosmetic procedure however, crowns are the most expensive cosmetic solution and require the longest period of time in which to prepare the tooth and for fitting.
